What is Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme?

Direct Entry Stream

You may live, work and study in Australia indefinitely on the basis of a direct immigration stream as an authorised skilled worker. Labour Agreement Stream

Skilled workers appointed by their employers are allowed to remain and work in Australia on a continuous basis under Labour Agreement Stream 186 visas. If you are currently employed or intend to be employed by an employer which is associated with a Labour agreement, you may qualify for this type of employment. If you qualify, you can take part in the Australian Public Health System and apply for citizenship of Australia.

You’ll be allowed to travel for five years in and out of Australia. The visa application charge for this visa type for the main the applicant will be $4,640. If you are applying for family members like your partner or a dependent child, they will be charged additional fees of $4,890. A member of the family who is holding either a 457 or 482 visa may also be included.

To apply for this visa you need,

1. If the labour contract does not expressly state that, you must be under 45 years of age to apply for this visa.

2. You will be employed or expected to work for your nominated employer, who is a party to the collective bargaining agreement.

3. The age, skills and English language proficiency requirements need to be met.

4. IIf you live in Australia, you must have a substantive 457 or TSS visa which has been obtained under an employment contract.

• You must be appointed by an Australian employer who has been authorised to nominate you within six months of your application.

• You’re required to meet the health and character requirements.

• You must have at least a competent level of English.
